Split movie review

Alejandro Whalen, Staff reporter

Unsurpisingly after one week of arriving in theaters, Split is currently number one at the U.S box office, and just from watching the trailers you could just tell that this movie had the potential to be a real thriller and it turned out to be just that. The plot of the movie is that three teenage girls are kidnapped by “Dennis” , which just happens to be one of the split personalities of Kevin Crumb, a victim of severe dissoctive disorder. He kidnaps the three girls, and instantly the girls begin to notice the problem with Kevin, and the different personalities he has. The other personalities try to warn the girls of the plans that the personaility “Dennis” has for them which is to sacrifice them all to “the beast”. His doctor, doctor fletcher immediantly notices the number of emails she has begun to receive lately from “Dennis” and rushes to the house and tries to help the girls however is eventually caught and drugged and later killed by the beast and leaves a note giving the girls the words in which Kevin can be stopped. The suspense in this movie is incredible, as a member of the audience you are constantly wondering if the girls will be able to escape alive, and find out sooner rather than later when Kevin turns into the beast which immediantly enhances his speed and strength. The three girls each try to escape their cells individually, and the only one who manages to survive is Casey, who after uncovering doctor fletchers note to bring kevin to the light then calls kevin to the light. He then orders her to kill him with the shotgun, but without success as the beast returns, but notices the scars on Casey’s body and spares her life. This whole movie is a tail spin, in which you do not know what will happen next. This is without already one of the hits of 2017, and will continue to make you wonder if a sequel is on the way.
