The band and choir performed their Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 13, with a Star Wars-inspired theme just in time for the opening weekend of A Force Awakens.

The band opened the concert with the theme music from Star Wars and followed that with some traditional Christmas songs this year, including a Caribbean version of “Feliz Navidad”, Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas Time”, and a sing-along which featured the band and choir singing music from the motion picture “White Christmas”.

The BNI jazz band featured senior Jazmin Encarnacion, singing “Baby it’s Cold Outside” and senior Daisy Abuzead playing a trumpet solo on “The Christmas Song.”

The choir added a new setlist to their standard selection of hits. Mr. David Herr, choir director, chose to open with “We Need a Little Christmas” and the theme from Home Alone, “Somewhere in My Memory”. This year, he added the Cyndi Lauper hit “True Colors”.

“[It was] inspired at a teachers meeting by how teachers are valued by students at Bishop Noll,” he said.

The concert choir also sang the Beach Boys classic “God Only Knows” and “Do You Hear the People Sing” from Les Miserables to honor the people from Paris during the November massacre.

The concert band just came off of Chicago Thanksgiving parade in which they were one of 20 bands selected out of 80 to participate in the parade. They were also one of two bands that were named the official band of the parade.
