This year could have been better for the Hockey team even though the returning season they had was successful. Bishop Noll could have done better in some games but they overall did what they had to do. To get the team and the new eighth graders who will be joining the team in the mood for hockey and more prepared the coach has decide to have the team start and join a Spring league which will be happening “end of March thru May”
The Coach Richard Sobilo said some of the teams they will play are teams like “Crown Point, Lake Central, and Munster” just like how they play them in the regular season.
When asked about how this will help benefit the team he said “The Spring League allows our players to get more game experience. It also allows them to sneak out another season of competition. Many of our players started playing high school hockey, or hockey in general, late and need all the ice time (game and practice) they can get. It also gives an opportunity to see newer players and how they may be able to compete at the high school level.”
If you are looking for a new sport to try out and see how you are then he suggests coming to the meeting he will have where he will invite new players to come. If you do not feel this is a great option to try out then you may be mistaken since the coach also said “The best thing about it is that we will be continuing to practice through the Spring, so new players can improve their skills not just play in the games.”
