World War II only lasted six years for America, but the in Chicago has been going on for five years and will last at most seven more years.
The war is between Jay Cutler and the whole Bears fan base. This struggle has been ongoing since 2009 when Cutler was traded to Chicago from Denver. In the beginning of this war, Cutler has not been able to win most of the battles to win Bear fans over. By losing these “battles,” the media begans to criticizes Cutler. They would call him soft or weak when he comes out of the game hurt. But when he stays in the game and gets more injured they call him stupid for staying in.
It almost seems like Cutler can’t please anyone. Cutler’s numbers have been pretty consistent, and the only thing keeping Cutler from having a very good season was staying healthy and a good system to work in. Under Marc Trestman’s new system, Cutler should be able to put up good number and keep the Bears at a competitive level. With the help of Trestman and a better system, Cutler has a great chance in winning the key “battles” in this on-going war. The Bears made the right decision by signing Cutler back for seven years.
Trestman is known as the “The QB Whisper” because he helps prepare his quarterbacks for different defenses. Most quarterbacks have had success when coached by him. He came from the Canadian Football League, where they throw the ball a lot more than they do in the NFL. Having Trestman as a head coach will be great for Cutler and the Bears offense because he will help them prepare for games better than they have in the past. The Bears before Trestman focused on defense; now they focus more on offense. Trestman was able to make Josh McCown look like a star quarterback. If you give Cutler more time with Trestman, the Bears offense could be a Super Bowl offense. The weapons are Forte, Marshall, and Jeffery, and the only thing the Bears need is a franchise quarterback, which they have in Jay Cutler.
Signing Cutler back was the best thing the Bears could have done because he already has a feel for the offense and he can grow to be the quarterback we all dreamed of. This was a smart move by the Bears, they got star quarterback and they have weapons all over the field. Cutler just might be able to win back the hearts of Bear fans and lead his team to victory and the promise land. If Cutler does this, he could end this war as successfully as World War II was ended for the United States, victorious.
