With the town of Riverdale on the verge of destruction, the gang comes back together one last time. Archie, Betty, Jughead, and Veronica reunite after seven years to solve yet another mystery. Of course, Hiram is the malicious villain terrorizing the town of Riverdale.

Riverdale is a teen drama television series based on the characters of Archie Comics. It’s a show on the CW that releases on Netflix once the final episode is aired. The series consists of characters KJ Apa as Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, the series’ narrator, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom.

Season 5 starts with the characters graduating and fast-forwarding 7 years. For a while, they’re no longer based in Riverdale but have started lives without each other. Ironically, a mystery brings the gang back to town and they’re back where they left off. Just like in reality when high school friends graduate they’re no longer friends this was the case for the group. Even Bughead (Betty and Jughead) and Varchie (Veronica and Archie) are no longer together but we do see the Barchie (Betty and Archie) drama that’s been anticipated since season 1.

Season 5 of Riverdale consists of 19 episodes.

The CW was successful with another interesting story. I actually enjoyed the first five episodes, but from there, the plot goes downhill.

I thought the execution was poor. There were also many absurd twists and turns that made everything confusing. One of the many twists was when they revealed the “Core Four” didn’t keep in touch after high school when their friendship was the blueprint of the entire show. Also, many of the main characters didn’t get much screen time except for Betty and Archie.

Overall season 5 has been rocky with borderline cringe but the love for the characters brings me back each season. I’d say this season is worth the watch especially if you’ve been following it since the first season. It threw some unexpected curveballs but it had interesting mysteries that had you anticipating what was next to come.
