The Northwest Indiana and Chicago police departments have been quite busy lately chasing criminals who keep on creating crimes that appear within our world. It appears that the crime rate is slowly increasing as time goes by. On the news, one hears much of a robbery that occurred at the bank. Another hears the news of a man stealing from a gas station. Crime will never come to an end, however, why is there a sudden increase in crime?
Firstly, it is important to understand that the roots of criminality begin with the way people think and how they make their decisions. People, especially criminals think and act differently than how other people think and act. These criminals by natural tend to be irresponsible, impulsive, selfish, and inspired by fear or anger. There are crimes present, because the criminal make the choice to commit the crime. However, there is more into it than just that.
The first and obvious reason for why people commit crimes is because the person is either unemployed or in deep poverty. Some people like to find the easiest way out and that easy way out is to steal cash from a bank.
Secondly, there are many broken families out there and some teenagers or possibly children, have the urge to find the attention they crave. They find this attention by creating crimes and leaving cops in a wild chase.
Thirdly, there may be something that inspires a person to commit a crime. For example, someone could be on drugs or simply be peer pressured by another person.
In the mind of a criminal, Hunter S. Thompson, a man who used to be an American journalist, describes exactly the thought process of every criminal out there. “In a closed society where everybody’s guilty, the only crime is getting caught. In a world of thieves, the only final sin is stupidity.”
