Knowing a band “before it was mainstream” seems to be a huge badge of honor lately.
At Bishop Noll, you’ll find a lot of musical talent. However, one local band has been able to stand out from the rest, and we’re lucky to have two of the members as a part of the BNI community. The pop-punk band, Detour North, seems to be spreading throughout the area. Made up of Anthony Esparza, Emmanuel Roldan, Danny Klus and Adam Cuculica, Detour North was born about five years ago and has been rising in the community with their unique sound. They currently have an EP out called “From Your Basement Speakers,” which anyone can download for free from a link on the band’s facebook page.
“We plan on recording and releasing our second EP and playing as many shows as we can this summer,” say bassist Esparza. “We plan on throwing together a tour of the Midwest probably next summer before we all go off to college.” Some of the band’s influences include Green Day, blink-182 and Fall Out Boy.
