Students in the drama club along with some faculty have donated their time after school almost everyday in order to help with repairs and cleanup all around the theatre department. Current projects have included cleaning the costume room, repairing and painting the lights booth, fixing up the platforms in the drama room (D114), and making room to put props and set pieces that were previously stored in the A-Wing.
“The old part of the A-Wing is being torn down in order to make room for additional athletic facilities,” said Mrs. Elizabeth Conley, head of the theatre department. “We’re moving whatever pieces we need from there into the number of storage places the drama club currently has. The students have been working very hard on fixing up the department.”
In the future, Conley hopes to repaint and fix up the “black box,” or the theatre room where her classes are held and the plays are performed with the audience on all four sides (also known as “theatre in the round”). Students and teachers alike are working very hard on all of the renovations.
